Industry experts say that none of these (Flipkart and Amazon) can be considered a winner. Both of these e-commerce websites become winners in different categories. On one hand, Amazon was the first choice for the healthcare, nutraceuticals and gym equipment businesses. On the other hand, Flipkart achieved the highest mark in the smartphones and wearables category this time.
Flipkart played well in the electronic and mobile phones this festive season and can be considered as the real winner in the segment. According to Ashish Dhir Executive Vice President, one of the major reasons of achieving this edge is that Flipkart has a better supply chain system in this specific category.
Both sales played well in selling the premium segment products. It can also be considered the biggest theme of these festive sales. Both e-commerce websites offered premium products to their customers.
If we talk about Flipkart, the e-commerce website has recorded a growth of 50 percent year-on-year which was more specific to iPhone 14 and Galaxy S21 FE. On the other hand, Amazon recorded the growth of 200 percent Year-on-year in the premium segment driven by iPhone 13 and Samsung Galaxy S23 FE.
Taking note of customers’ desire of spending more this season was one of the major that both the e-commerce platforms reduced discounts just after the beginning of the sale.
