Gemma Open Models: Google has recently introduced its state-of-the-art Open models for developing responsible AI models in future. This news is shared by the tech giant through an official blog post on the company’s official website. The newly introduced advanced open models are officially named Gemma. These open models are based on the same research and technology used to develop the Gemini AI.
Google Introduces Gemma Open Models
“At Google, we believe in making AI helpful for everyone. We have a long history of contributing innovations to the open community, such as with Transformers, TensorFlow, BERT, T5, JAX, AlphaFold, and AlphaCode. Today, we’re excited to introduce a new generation of open models from Google to assist developers and researchers in building AI responsibly”, the blog post reads.
What is Gemma Open Models?
The Gemma family of open models comprises lightweight, cutting-edge models that are constructed using the same technology and research as the Gemini models. Gemma, which was created by Google DeepMind and many other Google teams, was named after the Latin gemma, which means “precious stone.” Gemma was inspired by Gemini. Along with our model weights, we’re also making available resources to encourage developer creativity, promote teamwork, and direct the ethical use of Gemma models.
How Gemma is Similar to Gemini?
The architecture and technological components of Gemma models are shared with Gemini, our most powerful AI model that is currently accessible to the public. In comparison to other open models, this allows Gemma 2B and 7B to attain best-in-class performance for their sizes. Additionally, Gemma models may be used directly on a desktop or laptop computer used by developers. Interestingly, Gemma meets our strict requirements for responsible and safe outputs while outperforming noticeably bigger models on certain benchmarks.
Highlights of Gemma Open Models
- Lightweight and efficient
- State-of-the-art performance
- Multiple size options
- Open-source and customizable
- Framework and device compatibility
- Safe and responsible
