If you enjoy video games, the Google Doodle for December 1 is an absolute treat . The Doodle honours Gerald “Jerry” Lawson, one of the founding fathers of modern gaming, on his 82nd birthday. Lawson oversaw the creation of the first home video gaming system with interchangeable game cartridges.
Three American guest artists and game designers, Momo Pixel, Lauren Brown, and Davionne Gooden, are featured in The Doodle.
About Lawson
On December 1st, 1940, Lawson was born in Brooklyn, New York. From a young age, he experimented with electronics, fixing televisions in his neighbourhood and building his own radio station out of recycled items. Prior to leaving early to begin his career in Palo Alto, California, he attended Queens College and City College of New York. At the time, the city and its surrounding region had become known as ‘Silicon Valley’ due to the explosion of new, innovative tech companies starting up in the area,” the Google Doodle post explains.
The Rochester, New York, World Video Game Hall of Fame honours Gerald Gerry Lawson’s accomplishments.
