Google makes digital learning in schools safer, introduces new features

Google is leading the way towards digital learning in schools. The tech giant introduced new tools that are designed to make students aware of safe digital learning. The company has unveiled new features for educators and students. In a blog post, Jennifer Holland, director of program management, at Google for Education said that the includes new features in Google Workspace for Education and Chromebooks, such as data processor mode for ChromeOS and the new Service Data Addendum for Google Workspace for Education.

The idea, as per Holland, is to promote the importance of safe digital learning in today’s era. Keeping that in mind, Google is bringing context-aware access improvements, which will help admins control who is accessing which apps in an organization, and when.

There’s also an AI-powered spam view in Google Drive, which will let users separate and review files, and decide what should be viewed as spam. And this will also help to learn how to stay safe from potentially unwanted or abusive content.

Moreover, users will also be offered an option to keep school-issued and personal accounts completely separate. For Google Workspace for Education accounts, all user data is owned and managed by the organization, not Google. “All Google does is provide the tech to help keep learning going,” said Holland.

Google will soon bring app badges, which will help schools make more informed decisions about third-party app access for students.
