Hardware comparison

The Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 Pro and Google Pixel Buds Pro differ significantly in appearance. The Galaxy Buds 2 Pro are comparably elegant, in contrast to Google’s more bulbous earbuds that have visible Google branding. Although their diameters are comparable, Samsung’s earbuds are curved differently, placing more of their mass lower in your ears. Although comfort and fit are difficult to measure, in our experience, both pairs are comfortable to wear for extended periods of time.

Battery and availability

The Pixel Buds Pro are available in Charcoal, Coral, Fog, and Lemongrass, while the Galaxy Buds 2 Pro come in White, Bora Purple, and Charcoal.
In terms of battery life, Google is superior. With ANC on, the Pixel Buds Pro can operate for around seven hours on a single battery. The Galaxy Buds 2 Pro run out of power after about five hours. The Pixel Buds Pro case will give you almost two more charges, while the Galaxy Buds 2 Pro case will give you slightly more than two. Each case supports wireless charging or USB-C charging.

Audio quality

While both the Galaxy Buds 2 Pro and the Pixel Buds Pro offer superb audio quality, many customers tend to favour the richer, bassier sound of Samsung’s earbuds. Additionally, Samsung offers a selection of equaliser presets in the Galaxy Wearable app. Google promises that the Pixel Buds Pro will include EQ settings in a future update, but they have not yet arrived.

Other features

When connected to a Samsung phone, the Galaxy Buds 2 Pro also support Samsung’s brand-new, exclusive Seamless codec. In some programmes, it enables 24-bit audio playing of supported tracks. Only a few streaming providers, like Tidal, offer 24-bit audio, so you won’t get it if you listen to music on Spotify or YouTube Music. If you know what 24-bit sound is all about and are certain you want it, you can get it here. However, it is not a reason why most people should purchase the Galaxy Buds 2 Pro.
