Google Pixel Satellite SOS Feature Visible on Pixel Smartphones; Here’s How Users Will Benefit

Google Pixel Smartphones SOS Feature

Google Pixel Satellite SOS Feature: Satellite connectivity is gradually making its way to an increasing number of Android phones. Google Pixel phones will now have satellite SOS capability, following Huawei. A recent upgrade to Adaptive Connectivity Services may have unintentionally allowed Google to introduce a new “Satellite SOS” function under the Safety & emergencies section of the Pixel smartphones, according to a report.

Satellite Connectivity Feature Visible in Pixel Smartphones

As per a report by 9 to 5 Google, the new satellite SOS capability is now visible on some Pixel smartphones. Although it’s unclear when this capability will be available, you can find out whether your Pixel phone has it by going to Settings and then pressing on the Safety & emergencies section. However, according to the report, tapping will have no effect—possibly because Google hasn’t made it official yet. Once rolled out officially, then only users will be able to benefit from the SOS feature.

How Users Will Benefit

A member of the 9 to 5 Google team was able to get to the Satellite SOS menu on a rooted Pixel smartphone. With the new Satellite SOS feature, users will be able to “message with emergency services and share your location when you can’t connect to a mobile or Wi-Fi network.” Basically, the Satellite SOS feature will let users text or phone emergency services, share their location via Google Maps, and respond to emergency-related queries when they’re in a distant area with a proper cellular connection.

Expected Roll-Out

Google has not made any official announcement about the exact rollout timeline for the recently spotted Satellite SOS feature on Pixel devices. However, we expect that Google will officially launch this feature in the upcoming months.
