Google: eSIMs are progressively but slowly gaining popularity. Apple restricted the sale of its complete iPhone 14 series lineup to US eSIM only. With the eSIM concept, Google is apparently moving ahead and making it simpler for users to move their eSIM between devices.
Google Planning to make e-sim transfer easier for Android users
Google is developing an integrated eSIM transfer capability for Android, according to 9to5Google. It has since been discovered that Android is choosing to use QR codes as opposed to Apple’s preferred method, which was previously disclosed earlier this year. A recent discovery in Google Play Services, according to 9to5Google, provides proof of this. The eSIM transfer procedure is started by asking the user to scan a QR code; however, because the publication is still in the development stage, it is only able to cover the initial stages of the aforementioned QR transfer process.
It is unclear whether or when Android will get these native capabilities, but when it does, the process of moving an eSIM across Android phones—which is currently dependent on carriers—is anticipated to be much simpler.
