Google Play Store

Google Play Store: Google has recently faced a massive defeat against Epic Games. The tech giant needs to pay a USD 700 million settlement for unfairly charging customers. Google will also need to make various changes as per the court’s order. The search giant’s massive loss against Epic Games will result in the introduction of several changes to the Google Play Store app. Check out the top 5 upcoming changes in the Google Play Store

Freedom to Developers

One of the major changes ordered to Google by the court is to provide a great level of freedom to the developers who publish their apps on Google Play app which will encourage users to opt for Google Play Store alternatives to download any freeware.

Reduced Stress on Developers

Google is also ordered to not force developers to publish their apps on Google Play Store or publish at the same time when they are releasing the same on another alternative of the Play Store. The tech giant will also make sure that the user experience of any app remains the same for all users.

Payment Methods

In a series of changes, Google will now also offer developers to offer users their payment methods for subscriptions and in-app purchase-related transactions. From now onwards, Google will not be able to offer the best prices via Google Play Billing for the coming 5 years at least.

Discount Offers

From now onwards, the developers will be allowed to offer discounts to their app users while they are making payments to the developers via any other billing methods. This will allow developers to encourage customers to try their apps.

No Agreements with Smartphone Companies

Another big change is that from now on, Google will not be able to sign any agreements with smartphone makers to offer Google Play Store as a primary app for downloading apps on their smartphones and it will not be able to force smartphone makers to place their app on the device’s home screen.
