GPT-4 Turbo: By making GPT-4 Turbo with Vision available through its API, OpenAI has unveiled the next iteration of its language model. JSON mode and function calling for visual data processing are two of the enhanced capabilities in this edition. Additionally, the model is expected to interface with the well-liked ChatGPT and offer a performance improvement.
GPT-4 Turbo with Vision now generally available
Today, the business made the announcement on its X accounts that the GPT-4 Turbo with Vision model is now “generally available” via the API. September 2023 saw the announcement of GPT-4’s vision capabilities in addition to audio uploads. A month later, at OpenAI’s developer conference, GPT-4 Turbo was also unveiled, with the latter pledging enhanced speed, bigger input context windows (up to 128,000 tokens), and more cheap pricing.
Moreover, the text format JSON and function calling may now be used to request the use of the model’s vision recognition and analysis capabilities. This produces a JSON code snippet that developers can use to automate tasks within their linked apps.
What is GPT-4 Turbo?
The multimodal powerhouse GPT-4 Turbo can process inputs in both text and visual formats. This model generates outputs by applying its extensive knowledge base and reasoning skills. When OpenAI initially unveiled GPT-4 Turbo in November of last year, it highlighted two features: a large 128k context window that lets users add more than 300 pages of text in a single prompt, and enhanced knowledge up to April 2023.
GPT-4 Turbo’s optimised performance translates into significant cost savings for users, which is a true benefit. Input tokens are now three times less expensive than in the prior model, while output tokens are available for half as much money. GPT-4 Turbo is now a more economical and effective solution thanks to this improvement.
