H-1B Visa: The White House Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs (OIRA) has successfully reviewed the new pilot programme that will enable holders of H-1B visas to renew their visas without having to leave the country. Read on to learn more.
H-1B Visa pilot programme details
Starting in January 2024, 20,000 H-1B speciality occupation workers will be eligible to renew their visas in the United States. However, according to Bloomberg Law, a notice that is published in the Federal Register will reveal all of the specifics regarding the pilot’s functioning and eligibility. Spouses of H1B employees are not allowed to leave the country while the employees are renewing their visas.
The H-1B speciality occupation visas are currently good for three years. After visiting another country, the holders must schedule an appointment at a US embassy or consulate to obtain a stamp on their passport.
All visa applicants must now leave the US and make appointments for interviews at US consular facilities overseas in accordance with current regulations.
How will it benefit Indians?
Numerous Indian IT experts who are now working in the US are anticipated to gain from the change. The qualified H-1B visa applicants would not need to travel overseas to renew their work visas thanks to the pilot clearance granted by the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs (OIRA).
