Apple AirTag: Your most valuable possessions, such as keys, wallets, remote controls, and even motorcycles, may be easily found with the use of an Apple AirTag. However, concerns about AirTags’ use and application are raised by claims that they are being used to track individuals without their permission. In this article, we will tell you how to know if you are being tracked by an AirTag and how to stop being tracked. Read on.
Here’s how to determine whether an AirTag is tracking you, what to do if it is, and how to find out.
How to know if you are being tracked by an Apple AirTag
Frequently, your iPhone serves as the first clue that you are being tracked. Your iPhone will continuously search for nearby AirTags if you are running iOS 14.5 or later. This contributes to the effectiveness of AirTags: Apple’s servers receive this data in an effort to assist with lost item recovery.
If an AirTag is placed in your pocket without your awareness, your iPhone will detect it. Your iPhone will display an alert saying “AirTag Found Moving With You” if that AirTag remains in place when you move. It will display where it was discovered and where it moved with you when you click on the alert.
The Apple TrackerDetect app on an Android phone can be used to find nearby AirTags. This app looks for nearby AirTags around you and should work on most Android smartphones. You won’t receive notifications if an AirTag is hidden close to you, though; this only functions when the app is up and scanning.
How to stop an AirTag from tracking you?
You can disable that AirTag if you are able to locate it. But before you do, make sure you write down the phone number and the AirTag’s serial number. Law enforcement can receive this information from you. You won’t have access to this data once you’ve switched off the AirTag.
Following the steps below, you can disable an AirTag after saving this data:
- Press down and rotate the AirTag anticlockwise.
- Remove the lid and the battery. The device cannot notify its owner of its whereabouts when the battery is removed.
