A company worker in South Korea is crushed to death by an industrial robot in South Korea. The mishap is reported by the Yonhap News Agency. The incident took place when the industrial robot misunderstood the company worker as a vegetable box it was lifting. The incident happened with the man who was a robotics company worker and was working in the distribution centre for agricultural produce in South Gyeongsang province in South Korea.
How the Mishap Took Place?
The Robot was programmed to lift vegetable boxes in the company. According to the report, the industrial robot misunderstood the man as a vegetable box. As per the news agency reported, Robot’s arm malfunctioned and confused the company worker as the box it was lifting. Later the robot fastens round the man against conveyer belt, then the robot pushed the man towards the conveyer belt which resulted in completely crushing the man’s chest and face.
The man was taken to the nearest hospital immediately after the mishap, but he died later. The owner of Donggoseong Export Agricultural Complex said in a statement that a “Precise and Safe” working mechanism needs to be implemented.
Previously also, such incidents was reported from South Korea. One of them wwas happened in March this year in which the industrial robot severly injured while working in the company.
