iPhone 15 Series: The iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max from Apple are likely to cost more this year. Last year, Apple was able to keep a reasonable price difference between its Pro and non-Pro models. However, things may become harder to explain if rumours are true that the next non-Pro models will have more ‘Pro’ features like Dynamic Island and a switch to high-resolution cameras. A recent report says that Apple is likely to raise the prices of its iPhone 15 Pro models even more, even though they will have a lot more features than the iPhone 14 Pro models.
iPhone 15 Pro cost more than $1,000 this year
According to a story on Weibo that was first found by MacRumours, the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max may cost more than the current iPhone 14 Pro models. The price increase, according to the source, was done to “widen the gap” between the new iPhone 15 Pro models and the iPhone 15 Plus model. The Apple iPhone 14 Pro was sold for $999 in the US, while the Apple iPhone 14 Pro was sold for $1099. MacRumours says that this would make the base model of the iPhone 15 Pro cost more than $1,000 this year.
This year, the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus will have more Pro features, says the same Chinese source on Weibo. So, Apple will have to add more features to its most expensive Pro models this year if it wants to charge different prices for its two lines. MacRumours says that Apple is trying out new ways to boost sales of its non-Pro iPhone models because sales of the iPhone 14 and 14 Plus are not as good as Apple hoped.
In the iPhone 14 and 14 Plus, Apple used an older A15 Bionic processor with five more GPU cores to improve performance. Also, it has the same 12-megapixel camera sensors as before, but they work a little better.
iPhone 15 Pro variants would be made of titanium instead of stainless steel
In fact, the prices are different enough from the US prices that it’s hard to imagine how Apple could justify an even higher price tag if the rumour is true. Recent reports say that the frames of the iPhone 15 Pro variants would be made of titanium instead of stainless steel. The Apple A16 Bionic CPU from this year is likely to be used in the iPhone 15 models, instead of the newer silicon that is likely to be used in the Pro models.
