All about the iPhone 15 Ultra
Apple plans to revamp its legendary smartphone brand, according to early iPhone 15 reports. And just recently, we got our first glance at the rumoured design of the next “iPhone 15 Ultra” flagship. The appearance of curving edges, dual front cameras, and the move to USB-C are all depicted in impressively accurate renders. The outcome is an iPhone that is undeniably vintage and unmistakably modern.
The feature of this design that stands out the most is the curved chassis, which brings to mind the 2013 iPhone 5C. Although its unattractive design is due to its cheap plastic back, it was maybe the most ergonomic iPhone Apple manufactured since the iPhone 3GS.
In terms of build quality, the iPhone 15 Ultra will differ from the iPhone 5C because it is anticipated to have a titanium chassis. When compared to the stainless steel used in the iPhone 14 Pro, titanium costs $35–50 per kilogramme, which is nearly 30 times more expensive.
Titanium is three to four times stronger than stainless steel and can match its durability at just 40% of the weight in exchange for that investment. As a result, the iPhone 15 Ultra would be far lighter and stronger than the Pro Max models it is expected to replace.
Not to mention, although being much awaited, the switch to USB-C doesn’t significantly change how the phone appears in general. It is a little bit bigger than the Lightning connector, making the port a little bit wider. The photos do not show the transition from physical to haptic volume and power buttons, as well as the expected upgrade to a new primary camera sensor. Even so, it’s unlikely that these changes will have a big impact on the final design.
How much will it cost?
One negative aspect of all these developments is their price. Due to escalating component costs, multiple generational price rises are now a genuine possibility. Only the US and China were excused from these price increases for the iPhone 14 models, but there won’t be any exclusions when the iPhone 15 lineup is introduced the following year. Right now there are no rumours about the price.
