Lucknow News: Where EVs are advertised by claiming that they save environment and don’t emit hazardous gases which pollutes the air, on the other hand, nowadays, its becoming very common to see or hear that an EV caught fire. Similar incident has recently took place in Lucknow. specifically Thakurganj. The EV Scooter parked inside the home as charging and suddenly it caught fire and eventually exploded with a loud noise. Gradually, the whole premise caught the fire and 3 people got stucked inside the home. After a considerable efforts, firefighters were able to get control over the situation.
Mohd. Naseem was charging his scooty inside his home. When asked about the situation, he told that he heard a loud explosion at around 11 am. Hearing the loud burst, when his family members came out of the house, they witnessed black smoke and high flames all around the courtyard of their home, eventually, they immediately reported Fire Brigade about the situation. Fire Brigade arrived after 15 Minutes at the spot. In the meantime, the whole premise caught fire with the black smoke all around the walls of the home. There is no casualties reported in the incident, all the people trapped in the house were rescued safely by Fire Fighters.
Possible Reasons
The biggest question that arise is what is the reason behind EV Vehicles catches fire. As per experts, the battery is the primary reason of these incidents is the battery, batteries are the only part in an EV that is prone to catch fire rapidly.
Experts suggest that the EV vehicles with lithium ion battery should be bought in the market after a several levels of testing.
Thirdly, they say that leaving your vehicle to charge immediately after driving it is not a good practice pragmatically, because it significantly raises the temperature of Vehicle’s machinery.
The major reason to use a Lithium-Ion Battery is their High Energy Density, they have more battery backup compared to other batteries, but sometimes these batteries also becomes the reason for a damage in the vehicle. According to tech experts, the high energy density of these battery is also a reason that the cell gets unstable at times which can also impact the potential of these batteries.
