Mark Zuckerberg: It seemed as though Mark Zuckerberg, the founder of Facebook and the CEO of Meta Platforms Inc., and podcaster Lex Fridman were in a sci-fi movie when they got together on Thursday for a virtual video podcast.

Viewers would have assumed Lex and Mark were speaking to each other in the same room.
In reality, viewers were looking at digital renderings of Lex and Mark that were being updated in real-time at a level of fidelity and photorealism that had previously been assumed to be unattainable.
Fridman’s response became clear. The experience felt so lifelike that the host was a little taken aback. When gazing at a 2D screen, it can be difficult to fully understand what the experience is like, but Fridman described how amazing it was to look at Zuckerberg and sense his presence even though they were miles apart. He also observed how clearly the expressiveness was conveyed, allowing him to interpret Zuckerberg’s nonverbal cues. In fact, he stated, “I’m already forgetting that you’re not real.”
Will we get access to this tech soon?
Although the technology is astounding, accessibility is still far off; not everyone can drop by Meta’s Philadelphia facility to have their face and body scanned into the Matrix.
One of the final details that still needs to be thoroughly worked out, according to Zuckerberg, is the generation of these scans in a highly efficient manner.
