Maruti Suzuki Fronx Hybrid: Maruti Suzuki intends to present mass-market customers with hybrid powertrain options. A report in the media claims that the automaker is developing hybrid versions of the Swift, Fronx, Baleno, and possibly a compact MPV. In this article, we will tell you all we know so far about the upcoming hybrid powertrain cars.
Maruti Suzuki Fronx Hybrid details
According to the source, Maruti Suzuki is building an internal hybrid drivetrain (codenamed HEV) instead of using Toyota’s hybrid technology. Compared to parallel and series-parallel hybrids, it is purported to be a series hybrid that is less expensive to make. It has a range-extending internal combustion engine. An electric motor is powered by the electricity generated by the engine.
Maruti may introduce the Fronx hybrid at some point in 2025. With a 35 km/l fuel efficiency, the car is reportedly among the most fuel-efficient ones.
What is a series hybrid powertrain?
A vehicle with a simple drive train design that is a hybrid is known as a series hybrid powertrain.
A generator and a motor/generator are connected in series with the internal combustion engine (ICE) in this setup. The generator is run by the internal combustion engine (ICE), which powers the electric motor at the wheels or charges the battery pack.
Electricity is supplied to the motor by the generator powered by an internal combustion engine or by the battery pack. The percentage of power derived from the engine/generator or the battery is calculated by a computer.
Will other models offer it too?
2026 will probably see the release of the Baleno hybrid, with the Swift hybrid following a year later. Around 2029, the next generation Brezza—which is rumoured to be a hybrid— is expected to go on sale.
