Nepal Earthquake: A powerful 6.4-magnitude earthquake that struck Nepal’s Jajarkot area after midnight on Friday claimed at least 128 lives. The epicentre of the earthquake was located near Lamidanda in the Jajarkot district. In the Western Nepalese districts of Jajarkot and Rukum, 80 people lost their lives and over 140 were injured, as reported by state-run Nepal Television. All in, 128 people lost their lives across the nation. The earthquake, which struck at 11:47 p.m. on Friday, affected Kathmandu and the nearby regions as well as New Delhi in India.
Nepal Police’s warning for online scam
As people have now started offering money for the injured to help them, Nepal Police have missed an advisory to beware of online scams and fake organisations accepting aid.
They wrote, “When providing financial or other assistance to earthquake victims through the Internet or other means, please make sure that the persons or organisations asking for assistance are official or not. Please beware of internet scammers or exploiters.”
