New Delhi: According to an official statement released on Tuesday, the government has granted approval of Rs 26,000 crore for the installation of 25,000 mobile towers within 500 days.
Bharat Broadband Network is going to be in charge of carrying out the project, as stated by a spokesperson for the ministry of telecom, and the Universal Services Obligation Fund is going to be the one to offer the financial assistance for it.
Telecom Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced the initiative at the Digital India Conference of State IT Ministers, which took place over the course of three days and ended on October 3.

Rajeev Chandrasekhar, the Minister of State for Electronics and IT and Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, and Devusinh Chauhan, the Minister of State for Communications, along with IT ministers from 12 states and union territories, were there.
Universal Services Obligation Fund will provide funding
The Universal Service Operating Fund (USOF) is a pool of funds that are generated by the Universal Service Levy, which is a tax that is imposed at a rate of 5% of an operator’s adjusted gross income (AGR). According to Vaishnav, ” connectivity is crucial for the development of Digital India and its reach to every corner of the country.” The minister announced that there will be a fund of Rs 26,000 crore to erect new towers every day for the next 500 days. In addition to this, he disclosed that the special assistance to states for capital expenditures amounting to 2,000 crore rupees has been approved.

He urged the states to take initiative and craft rules that were conducive to business to get companies to locate in their respective states. Emphasizing the slogan “Sabka Saath and Sabka Vikas,” he stated that the commitments from all states and UTs, both large and small states, are essential to bringing Aatma Nirbhar Bharat and the Trillion Dollar Digital Economy to fruition. This was said while he was stating that the commitments from all states and UTs, both large and small states, are vital.
