UPI ID: According to the latest circular issued by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI). The new guidelines says that all inactive UPI IDs linked to any third party apps like Google Pay, Phone Pe and Paytm will be deactivated by 31st December. According to the NPCI circular, all the UPI IDs not in use for over 1 year will be considered as inactive UPI IDs. Check out more details below.
Will Be Implemented By 2024
To be more clear, Users who haven’t used their UPI ID from the past year will be deactivated by NPCI without any prior notification and they will not be able to use their UPI IDs for making online transactions.
How to Prevent UPI ID Deactivation?
The new guideline will come into effect by the next year. If you are one of those UPI users who have not made any UPI transaction from the past one year, you can prevent the deactivation by making transaction of any amount at any of the following platforms stated below.
- Mobile Apps such as Paytm, Google Pay, Phone Pe
- Online Stores
- Physical stores.
- ATMs
