According to a leak, The next OnePlus phone will have UFS 4.0 storage. The most recent update to the flash storage standard, which was announced in May 2022, allows for smaller, more effective chips while also bringing a significant increase in sequential read/write speeds. According to Samsung, UFS 4.0 NAND chips offer sequential read and write speeds that are twice as fast as UFS 3.1, with maximum speeds of 4,200MB/s and 2,800MB/s, respectively. UFS 4.0 is claimed to be 46% more power efficient than UFS 3.1 despite all this added performance.
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 is Qualcomm’s first platform to support UFS 4.0, which explains why none of the 2022 flagships introduced in the second half of the year had the storage chip. In many use situations, the faster storage chip should result in a noticeable speed improvement, such as faster app start times, faster boot rates, and shorter app installation times.
