OnePlus 12R Review: OnePlus 12R debuted in India on 23rd January. The all-new device is introduced as an upgrade over the previously launched and one of the most loved mid-range smartphones, the OnePlus 11R. OnePlus 12R also comes with some notable upgrades on the inside and outside such as a better and more premium build, IP65 rating and an improved processor. I have been testing this smartphone for around a month now and I came to know that this smartphone is also capable of dominating the mid-range segment just like its predecessor. Is this device an upgrade in the true sense? Should you buy this smartphone? Check the answers to all these questions below.
OnePlus 12R Design and Performance
The device comes with a premium steel back when compared to the polycarbonate back offered in the OnePlus 11R. The OnePlus 12R gives a more premium in-hand feeling than the 11R. The device features a 6.78-inch AMOLED ProXDR display which supports a high refresh rate of 120 Hz and a peak brightness of around 1600 nits. The given display has a touch sampling rate of 240 Hz and HDR 10+ support. OnePlus 12R gets a circular camera module at the back panel which looks the same as its predecessor. On the front, there is a punch-hole camera in the centre of the display. Overall, the design is premium and feels good in hand.
As far as the power is concerned, the device gets a powerful Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor which is a big upgrade in the OnePlus 12R. To recall, the OnePlus 11R featured a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Plus Gen 1 processor. We also tested the device’s performance on the AnTuTu 10 benchmark and surprisingly the OnePlus 12R achieved an impressive score of more than 1.5 million which was quite more than my expectations.
Camera and Software Optimization
The OnePlus 12R features a triple rear camera setup which comprises a 50MP primary lens, 8MP ultrawide lens and 2MP depth sensor. I tested the smartphone’s camera in all lighting conditions- low light, natural light and artificial light and I observed that the device performs well in every lighting condition, but it struggles to capture details in the low lighting areas.
The device runs on Android 14 with Oxygen OS 14.0 skin on the top. After a month-long usage, I can say that Oxygen OS is well-optimized and provides a clean and bloatware-less experience in the device.

OnePlus 12R Review: What We Think
The OnePlus 12R is a great smartphone with a powerful processor, long battery life and a fast charging system. However, the familiar design and a slightly underwhelming camera hold it back from being a true flagship killer. If you prioritize raw performance, battery life, and fast charging at a competitive price point, the 12R is a great option. However, if you need a unique design or the absolute best camera experience, you can consider other options in the market.
