Reliance JioBook: After getting into the mobile phone market, Reliance made its first appearance in a different product category. The company owned by Mukesh Ambani put out its first laptop in India last week. It cost less than Rs 20,000. But this isn’t a typical Windows laptop or even a Chromebook. Instead, it runs JioOS, which is a version of Android made just for laptops.
Here is all the information you need about the JioBook
The JioBook has an 11.6-inch screen, which gives it a very small body. That screen has an HD resolution of 1366768 pixels and can be refreshed at a standard 60Hz. Reliance hasn’t said anything about how bright the screen is yet, though.
At the top of the screen, in the top bezel, is a 2MP webcam for video calling. The audio is handled by two 1.0W speakers on each side. There is also a slot for a SIM card, as well as two USB ports and a 3.5mm jack for headphones. Bluetooth 5.0, HDMI mini, and Wi-Fi are all ways to connect.

Under the hood is the mid-range Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 SoC, which is based on ARM and is supported by the Adreno 610 GPU. The chip came out in 2019. It uses an 11nm process and usually gets a score of 170,000 or more on AnTuTu. There are only 2GB of RAM to help the processor, and it’s not clear if that will slow it down, especially if there are a lot of apps installed. The storage is 32GB, but you can add up to 128GB more. Jio says that a full charge of the 5,000mAh battery will keep it going for up to 8 hours. Passive cooling takes care of heat production.
JioBook: Prices and options
A few weeks ago, the JioBook was first sold on an online government market for Rs 19,500. Even though that seemed like a fair price, the company has cut the retail price by several rupees, bringing it down to just Rs 15,799. That price is for the only model, which has 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. Right now, there don’t seem to be any other options, but hopefully, there will be in the future. If you want to buy one for yourself, you can do so at the online and offline Reliance Digital stores, where you can get some really good deals that bring the price down even more.

Do you want to buy it?
Given how cheap it is and how many features it has, there’s no question that the JioBook has made a place for itself. There aren’t many Android laptops on the market right now, so it will be hard for Jio to get people to join the programme. As for whether or not it’s a good investment, the laptop is a great buy if you do a lot of browsing or watching videos every day. But if you want to play games, you’d be better off spending that money on a tablet or a smartphone.
