Samsung Galaxy S23 vs OnePlus 11: During this week’s Unpacked event, Samsung finally unveiled the Galaxy S23 series, introducing the standard Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23 Plus, and the heavy-duty Galaxy S23 Ultra. After the event, OnePlus will host its mega event on February 7th, where the company will launch its flagship smartphone, the OnePlus 11. While Indian pricing has yet to be revealed, the OnePlus 11 could compete with the base Galaxy S23 when it goes on sale in the coming weeks.
On that note, let’s get into a comparison and see how the OnePlus and Samsung flagships differ in terms of price, design, camera, battery, and more.
Price and variants
To begin the comparison, the Samsung Galaxy S23 was launched in India at Rs 74,999 for the base 8GB + 128GB storage variant. There is also an 8GB + 256GB variant for Rs 79,999.
The OnePlus 11 was released in China in January for RMB 3,999 (approx Rs 48,000) for the 12GB + 256GB model, RMB 4,399 (approx Rs 52,900) for the 16GB + 256GB variant, and RMB 4,899 (approx Rs 59,000) for the 16GB + 512GB storage option. The device’s global launch is set to begin on February 7th, at which time OnePlus will also reveal India-specific pricing.

Design
Starting with the rear design, the Samsung Galaxy S23 has three cameras stacked on top of each other, whereas the OnePlus 11 follows a similar design language to its predecessor by combining all of the cameras in a single module, with the difference being that it is a circular layout rather than a rectangle. In terms of the frame, the right side of the OnePlus 11 houses an alert slider as well as the power button, while the left side houses the volume buttons. The power button and volume rockers are located on the right side of the Galaxy S23. Both handsets have a USB-C port as well as speakers on the bottom.
Display
The OnePlus 11 has a much larger 6.7-inch 2K AMOLED display than the Galaxy S23, which has a compact 6.1-inch FHD+ Dynamic AMOLED display. Aside from that, the OnePlus 11 supports LTPO 3.0, which allows the refresh rate to vary between 1Hz and 120Hz depending on the content displayed on the screen. The Galaxy S23, on the other hand, only has adaptive refresh rates ranging from 48Hz to 120Hz. Both handsets’ display panels support HDR10+ and Always On Display, with the OnePlus 11 going one step further by including Dolby Vision support.
Processor, RAM and storage
Both the Samsung and OnePlus flagships are powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, with the Galaxy S23 sporting a customised variant of the chipset designed specifically for the Galaxy S23 lineup. A large vapour chamber on both handsets aids the processors by keeping temperatures balanced during intensive workloads such as high-end gaming, video recording, and downloading or uploading large amounts of data. Both devices benefit from the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC’s array of 5G bands for ultra-fast internet connectivity.
In terms of storage, the Galaxy S23 is available in 8GB RAM with 128GB ROM and 8GB RAM with 256GB ROM configurations. In China, the OnePlus 11 is available in 12GB RAM with 256GB ROM, 16GB RAM with 256GB ROM, and 16GB RAM with 512GB ROM storage configurations.
Camera comparison
The Samsung Galaxy S23 has a triple rear camera setup that includes a 50MP OIS-enabled primary sensor, a 120-degree 12MP ultra-wide angle lens, and a 10MP telephoto camera with up to 3x optical zoom. OnePlus, on the other hand, has collaborated with Hasselblad once more to optimise the cameras on the OnePlus 11, which include a 50MP primary sensor, a 32MP telephoto lens, and a 115-degree 48MP ultra-wide camera. These phones can record videos in up to 8K resolution, with the Galaxy S23 even supporting HDR10+ recording.
