The Watch 5 series hasn’t replaced Samsung’s 2021 smartwatches, either; the Watch 4 and Watch 4 Classic remain among the best Android smartwatches available, and more frequent discounts make them even more tempting.

There aren’t many features that set the two devices apart, and the watches share more features than they have differences. They share the same seamless 60Hz displays, sensors, Samsung-built chipsets, storage capacity, battery life, and RAM. They utilise the same programme, thus they ought to receive similar updates.

The functionality is not flawless. The Watch 4’s battery life is negatively impacted by hotword recognition, and smart home controls can be a little tricky. However, the majority of the time it functions as expected.

Materials and design choices account for the majority of the significant variances between the two watches. The metal body of the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 comes in two distinct colours—pink for the 40 mm and green for the 44 mm—that might make Classic owners envious. It typically features a leaner, more athletic appearance (similar to earlier Samsung Galaxy Watch Active versions).

While the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 Classic features the actual rotating bezel that longstanding fans of Samsung wearables adore, it sports a larger, stainless steel case (the non-Classic version mimics this functionality with a touch-sensitive bezel). Given that the non-Classic Watch 4’s face is entirely flat, the spinning bezel could also aid in protecting the display. It’s also important to point out that none of Samsung’s most recent watches have a rotating bezel like this.

The size of the display and the battery are the sole distinctions between the two sizes of each Galaxy Watch 4 version. The larger watches have 1.4-inch 450×450 OLED screens, while the smaller watches have 1.2-inch 396×396 OLED displays. The 247mAh batteries in the smaller watches are much smaller than the 361mAh batteries in the larger watches.

Which One to buy?

Depending on your priorities, but for the majority of users, we’d suggest the standard Galaxy Watch 4. All you give up in exchange for saving $100 off the Watch 4 Classic’s MSRP is the absence of the steel casing and mechanical rotating bezel. Everything else, including battery life (among devices of similar sizes), display quality, performance, and more, remains the same. There isn’t much of a need to spend more money unless you prefer a smartwatch with a more conventional appearance or you can’t live without that clicky goodness.
