Samsung to change how fingerprints logins are used, Here is what you need to know

Samsung: According to rumours, Samsung is developing new technology to make fingerprint login on Galaxy devices safer. As per a report, The South Korean manufacturer of smartphones intends to enable the simultaneous scanning of numerous fingerprints across the whole OLED display. Three fingerprints used simultaneously for identification will be 2.5 billion times safer than one, claims Samsung Display.

About the new technology

Additionally, customers won’t have to worry about positioning their fingerprint correctly on the screen to unlock the handset thanks to the new OLED 2.0 technology. Users of Samsung devices will find it more convenient to use an in-display fingerprint scanner as a result.

Nevertheless, the business has not specified a specific date for when the technology will be ready. However, according to the article, Samsung may have this technology available for its OLED panels in as little as two years.

How will Samsung do it?

The OPD (Organic Photo Diode) technology will form the foundation of Samsung’s OLED 2.0 for multi-fingerprint sensing. OPD was created by the French business ISORG. It has a tiny component sensor for multi-fingerprint sensing that can be positioned beneath an OLED display.

Samsung intends to make use of an in-cell variant of the company’s technology, according to an interview with Dieter May, CEO of ISORG. He added, “This means the approach and some of the proprietary materials may well be the same, but they will take a yield hit trying to implement both the sensor and the collimator within the OLED display itself.”
