Daily Beast identified 131 random Twitter employees from LinkedIn and cross-referenced them with their Threads profiles. Thirty one Twitter employees had profileson the rival platform.
Many Twitter ex-employees have also begun using Threads which was launched in late June this year. Esther Crawford, who gained attention by sleeping on the office floor has also registered an account on Threads.
“[Not gonna lie] the signup flow was really nice,” one Twitter employee said about Threads. Daily Beast did not give any further details about Twitter executives on the rival app.
Rapid start
Since its launch, Threads has attracted more than 10 million users. Any Instagram user can sign-up on Threads and Backlinko says there are more than 1 billion monthly active Instagram users.
Twitter has changed dramatically under Elon Musk’s leadership. The legacy blue ticks have gone and currently any verified Twitter user can buy blue ticks. However, a revamped Twitter has worried several premium advertisers who say their messages aren’t going to the right users.
Early this year, Musk hired a new CEO for Twitter whose key role is to bring disgruntled advertisers back to the platform.
Great features but a few limitations
Threads hopes to leverage this discontent. Users can post longer videos on Threads as well as write long posts, which isn’t possible on Twitter. However, discovering hashtags on Threads is a key concern. Also, advertisers haven’t come to Threads in good numbers.
Adam Mosseri, Instagram head, says Threads will soon have hashtags and an edit feature, which is unavailable to non-blue tick marked handles. He also told reporters that Threads’ engineers will be busy troubleshooting bugs and other technical problems of the platform.
