Sony: This year at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES 2024), Sony unveiled more PlayStation 5 slim customisation possibilities. To change the appearance of the PS5 Slim, the business will soon be introducing additional coloured side plates in silver, red, and blue that can be bought individually. Read on to know more.
Sony PS5 Slim in new colours
With a detachable disc drive, the Sony PS5 Slim is a smaller-profile, more compact variant of the PS5. Along with an additional USB-C port on the front, the storage has also been increased to 1TB. Nevertheless, the most recent console has the same hardware capabilities.
The Volcanic Red, Cobalt Blue, and Sterling Silver colour options for the PS5 Slim have been unveiled by Sony. These belong to the same Deep Earth collection as the original PlayStation 5. The colours of the DualSense controllers and the console also match. Instead of the glossy and matte finish found on the regular White colour choice, the redesigned side plates are entirely matte. All PlayStation enthusiasts will experience a recall thanks to the striking colours and the Sterling Silver option, which brings back fond memories of the original PlayStation.
Price and availability
The recently released side plates are available for separate purchase and have a price of $54.99. It is possible for users who already own the console to swap out the side plates. According to Sony, the new colours will soon be available for purchase. A Black side plate that is entirely matte will also be available soon.
