Apple Vision Pro: The unveiling of Apple’s long-anticipated virtual reality headset, the Vision Pro, sent Twitter into overdrive with users incredulously reacting to the hefty price tag. As the tech giant made the announcement at their WWDC 2023 event on June 5th, netizens quickly turned their shock into humour, flooding the platform with hilarious memes.
The Vision Pro, costing a hefty $3,499 (approximately Rs 2.90 lakh), was presented as the next frontier of personal technology by Apple’s CEO Tim Cook. The new gadget, announced during the conference held at Apple’s tranquil Cupertino campus, was hailed as a path-breaking addition to the realm of VR.
Price Tag Shockwaves Inspire Creativity
Twitter users didn’t hold back as they responded to the launch with a barrage of light-hearted posts. A flood of memes depicted scenarios from wide-eyed MacBook Pro users stunned by the price, to flabbergasted spouses attempting to rationalise the purchase.
The Vision Pro’s cost sparked a comparison with high-end cameras too. One Twitter user humorously juxtaposed the headset’s price with the Canon EOS 1D X Mark III camera, hinting that the latter might be a more practical purchase.
The Vision Pro: A Technological Powerhouse
Notwithstanding the internet uproar, the Vision Pro is an impressive feat of technology. Equipped with 12 cameras, six microphones, and a plethora of sensors, it promises users an immersive virtual experience controlled by merely their eyes and hands. Not to mention, the goggles can create a 3D digital avatar of the user for video conferencing.
The launch also revealed Apple’s latest high-end computer models, the Mac Studio and Mac Pro, boasting company-designed chips. The next iteration of the iPhone operating system, iOS 17, was also previewed during the conference.
While the Vision Pro’s price tag has caused quite the stir online, Apple enthusiasts are eagerly waiting to see if this technological marvel will be worth the cost. It’s safe to say, though, that in the interim, Twitter will continue to buzz with rib-tickling memes.
