Apple: Customers are cautioned against using unofficial Apple Watch chargers in a support document released by Apple.
The tech giant issued a warning, saying that using these chargers could result in repetitive chimes, delayed charging, and shorter battery life. Apple advised using chargers manufactured by Apple or those bearing the Made for Apple Watch mark and the Made for iPhone (MFi) certification in order to avoid these issues.
How to know if your Apple charger is authentic?
“Authentic charging connectors made by Apple are white. Some Apple Watch chargers have text and regulatory markings on the charging cable,” Apple notes. It added, “Chargers that are not made by Apple might have different colors, text, or other designs on the surface of the charging connector.”
The model numbers that official Apple Watch chargers come with are A1570, A1598, A1647, A1714, A1768, A1923, A2055, A2056, A2086, A2255, A2256, A2257, A2458, A2515, A2652, and A2879.
An additional way of confirming the authenticity
- Connect the charging wire for your Apple Watch to your Mac. Click General in the sidebar after selecting Apple menu > System Settings.
- After selecting About on the right, select System Report and USB. Choose a watch charger and get the manufacturer’s name.
- It must once more state Apple in order to be genuine.
