Mark Zuckerberg: WhatsApp for Business has crossed the mark of 20 core users. The landmark numbers were recently revealed by Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg via a Facebook Post. A new update that will rollout in near future would let user create free ads for Instagram and Facebook. A paid messaging feature is also coming out that will help small businesses target customers easily.
“Soon the 200M+ users of the WhatsApp Business app will be able to create Facebook and Instagram ads to find and connect with new customers, without needing a Facebook account. We’re also announcing new paid messaging features so small businesses can reach customers more efficiently.” Zuckerberg revealed
An app for Merchants
WhatsApp for Business helps merchants have a business presence on the platform facilitating easy conversation with their customer base.
An official statement from Meta owned WhatsApp business said “Starting soon we’ll begin testing a new feature within the WhatsApp Business app where small businesses will have the option to send personalized messages to their customers – like appointment reminders, birthday greetings or even updates on a holiday sale – in a faster and more efficient way. Rather than having to manually send the same message to multiple customers, this new feature will give businesses the ability to send personal messages with the customer’s name and customizable call-to-action buttons to specific customer lists such as those with a select label (like “VIP customers” or “new customers”), schedule the day and time the messages are sent and then see what’s working,”
It is significant for small merchants to expand their businesses and keep efficient connection with their present business and these features will facilitate smooth communication.
The ad feature
The new feature will enable launching of paid promotions on Facebook and Instagram, without a Facebook account. The new promotion feature will have a WhatsApp CTA that will drive potential customers back to the messaging app. A more direct lane of communication will be established which can soon open doorway for Push Notifications.
With the expansion of it’s direct communication network between businesses and users , META has to take special regard in keeping the privacy features afloat with respect to user data.
