WhatsApp New Features: WhatsApp is working on multiple new features that will be rolled out in the coming weeks. According to a new report, WhatsApp has begun working on a new feature that will allow users to mention their loved ones in their WhatsApp status just like stories on Instagram. Reportedly, the company is also working on a new feature to enable users to upload long videos to their status. This move seems to have been taken after observing the high demand from users. The feature is currently for some of the beta testers. This feature is expected to significantly boost the engagement of WhatsApp.
WhatsApp Cooking Two New Functionalities
Two features are currently in the pipeline and can be available for users in the coming few weeks or months. One of the features is the functionality to upload long videos, more than the currently limited to 30 seconds. According to a report by WABetaInfo, beta users can now upload a 60-second long video on their status. The report also mentions the possible roll-out of the new feature in a phased manner. Additionally, it mentions that the platform decided to increase the video length due to increasing demand by users.
WhatsApp New Status Features: Availability
As of now, the new status features mentioned above are only available for WhatsApp beta for Android 2.24.7.6 users. However, this version of WhatsApp is available to download from the Google Play Store, but only those users who have signed up for the beta programme can use this version. This feature will be rolled out for all the users once WhatsApp completes the testing. If you are curious and want to use these features now, you can sign up for the beta program and use the above-mentioned Beta version of WhatsApp. But remember the long videos that you will be upload on your WhatsApp status will not be visible to the users who have a stable version of the app.
