WhatsApp: It’s been a good couple of months for those fortunate enough to have been accepted into the beta programme, which is at capacity, with WhatsApp, from the launch of WhatsApp Channels in additional countries to the addition of support for multi-account switching. A history-sharing function that has been added to Channels may have caught the attention of users who have connected that when joining, a large number of messages are already displayed. The most recent WhatsApp beta version currently indicates that a comparable tool for group chat administrators is under development.
WhatsApp to launch group history sharing
In the future, joining a WhatsApp group won’t always result in a blank screen. Instead, you’ll be synced with the most recent messages exchanged in the channel, so you can understand where you just joined. The administrators for each group will determine whether to activate this, which is optional.
According to WaBetaInfo, the setting will be called Share Recent History and it will be used to share messages sent in the last 24 hours by new members. Older messages won’t be accessible very soon.
Being able to locate ourselves in the new group and assess the atmosphere will be quite helpful. One day in history is obviously a very brief timeframe.
For the time being, it is unknown when WhatsApp will enable this feature for groups, but it appears that you will be notified in the group itself when it does, which will help to alert you.
