Youtube fan channel privacy policy
The latest YouTube policy states that if you run a fan channel, it must be clear in the name of the channel or in a disclaimer that it does not represent the original creator, artist, or company.
According to the new policy, YouTube channels that initially identify as fan accounts in their description but ultimately pose as another’s channel and reupload their content are blocked. Additionally, channels that duplicate the original channel’s name, avatar, and banner with the only exception of inserting a space after the name or changing an O to a 0 will not be permitted on the platform.
Why is the company doing it?
YouTube has updated its policy to prevent viewers from being duped by fraudulent channels and to give legitimate views and subscribers back to original creators. The purpose of this action by YouTube is to uphold transparency and shield creators from having their names used maliciously. Fake profiles obviously hurt the reputation of the creators in addition to preventing them from making money.
