IPL 2023: On Monday, an intense match took place between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Lucknow Super Giants at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow. Despite the low scores, it turned out to be a thrilling encounter, with RCB emerging victorious over LSG by a margin of 18 runs. However, the game was marred by a heated controversy as former RCB captain Virat Kohli and LSG bowler Naveen-ul-Haq engaged in a heated argument during the match. The tension escalated further after the game when Kohli and LSG mentor Gautam Gambhir confronted each other. A new video has now been released by RCB on social media, showing the first proper reaction after the clash.
What did Virat Kohli say after IPL 2023 clash?
Kohli has expressed his initial response to the incident. In a video shared by Kohli’s team, RCB, the renowned batsman gave his first thoughts on the controversy. “That’s a sweet win boys. A sweet win. If you can give it, you got to take it. Otherwise don’t give it,” Kohli stated while in the dressing room.
Speaking on the match, Kohli said, “It was a really important win on the road for us. The fact that we got more support from the home crowd is an unbelievable feeling. It tells you all about how much we are liked as a team and how people come out and back us. It’s a very sweet win. Feels very good for many reasons but most importantly for the kind of character we showed defending that total. I think everyone had the belief that we could do it and we were on the winning side which is great.”

What had happened during the match?
The incident seemingly started during the 17th over of the second innings when Kohli and Naveen found themselves at odds with each other. They engaged in a verbal altercation, with Kohli visibly upset with Naveen for undisclosed reasons. Kohli even brought the matter to the attention of Naveen’s batting partner, Amit Mishra, as well as the on-field umpires. Following the match, Kohli and Naveen exchanged a handshake, but the interaction had a cold atmosphere, accompanied by a further exchange of words between the two.
Following the match, the RCB batsman was engaged in a conversation with LSG opener Kyle Mayers when Gambhir approached and seemingly interrupted their discussion. This incident occurred after a confrontation between Kohli and Gambhir. The two had to be separated by their respective teammates, including Amit Mishra, KL Rahul, and several support staff members from LSG.
