IPL 2024

Pat Cummins talked about Abhishek Sharma and how brilliant he has been in IPL 2024 so far and described him as a scary batsman.

IPL 2024: Abhishek Sharma has had an anomaly of a season so far. He came out firing on all cylinders from the first match itself and has not stopped till now. He has been the find of the tournament so far.

His season has been so impressive that he is constantly getting ICC T20 World Cup 2024 shouts even now. Abhishek is in scary form right now and when Travis Head got out for a duck on Sunday against PBKS, he resumed the charge on his behalf.

He scored his slowest IPL 2024 half-century and that came in just 21 deliveries. You can see what kind of season he has had so far. In the post-match interview, SRH skipper Pat Cummins praised the left-handed Indian opener and called him a scary batsman.

IPL 2024: He Is A Scary Batsman

In the post-match interview, a delighted Cummins praised both Abhishek Sharma and all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy. He called Nitish a mature player who is beyond his age. He also remarked that he would not want to bowl against Abhishek.

Cummins stated “He (Abhishek) is amazing. I wouldn’t want to bowl against him. He’s scary. Nitish is a class player, looks mature beyond his age, he is perfect for the top order. Really satisfying. I haven’t played in finals before. Playing some really good cricket, excited for what’s ahead.”

A New Record!

Abhishek was sensational against Punjab and led his team towards a rather comfortable victory. He scored 66 runs with the help of 6 sixes and broke an 8-year-old record. With this inning, Abhishek registered the most number of sixes in a single season of the tournament by an Indian player.

The record was previously held by Virat Kohli who hit 37 sixes in 2016. The Southpaw has now hit 39 sixes in this tournament and still has at least 1 match to play. On the other hand, Kohli is also not far behind Sharma with 37 sixes in this tournament as well.
