Chandigarh University MMS: In connection with the “leaked” Chandigarh University video case, a man from Shimla has been detained. The Chandigarh University video leak case has received considerable media attention, and the Himachal Pradesh police have now detained the accused girl’s 23-year-old friend from her local area in the state.
State police have so far made two arrests in Himachal Pradesh in connection with the Chandigarh University obscene video case, according to the police. While one suspect was being apprehended, another was being arrested.
In reaction to student protests over allegations that a female student had recorded and distributed films of other female students, administrators at the University of Chandigarh stopped classes for six days until September 24.

According to authorities, rumours that provoked terror among the new students at the institution in Mohali, Punjab, are believed to have started the argument. Despite police promises that a Special Investigation Team would conduct additional inquiries, the students remained unsatisfied, and protests at the campus continued.
Who is Sunny Mehta?
A travel agency employee named Sunny Mehta, 23, was also detained in Rohru Shimla, where he was born and brought up. The female student who was detained in this case is likewise a Rohru native. According to authorities, a second man who works in a bakery was also detained in Shimla.
“We have detained said defendant in this matter. The Punjab Police, who would be overseeing the probe, will receive the person. Additionally, the case was filed within their purview, according to Himachal DGP Sanjay Kundu, who spoke to The Indian Express.
According to Himachal police, the second accused, was apprehended in Dhalli after Punjab police requested it. “Another accused was requested to stay at PS Dhalli by the Punjab Police. In order to look into the aforementioned crime and confirm his involvement, the Punjab Police have now brought him to Punjab. He resides in the Shimla neighbourhood of Dhalli, the DGP told IE.
The second accused called the first accused student while the warden was questioning her, the police claim. He texted her a screenshot of an unpleasant photograph that she had previously shared with her buddy, and the girl claimed that she did not recognise her number. In the FIR, her phone number was provided.

What was the matter?
After it was discovered that a female student had reportedly released undesirable videos of other students, which are extensively shared on the Internet, the incident triggered widespread protests among university students.
According to Punjab Police, an inquiry is being conducted to confirm the student’s accusations that she was being blackmailed by a male. The woman has been detained in connection with a charge filed under Section 66E of the Information Technology Act (penalty for privacy breach) and Section 354C of the Indian Penal Code, both of which relate to voyeurism. Kharar (Sadar).
Dr. RS Bawa, the Pro-Chancellor of Chandigarh University, stated in a statement, “The media is spreading the untrue and unfounded rumour that students with 60 problematic MMS have been identified. Except for a private film that a female shot and shared with her boyfriend, no videos of students were discovered during the university’s early examination to be undesirable.”
