China is ready to take “conciliatory steps” in order to prevent new violations of the commitments on India-Chinese border, said Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Friday, a day after holding an essential meeting with External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar over the prevailing standoff in Ladakh.
Speaking during a joint press conference with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, Wang said troops and equipment should be withdrawn from the Line of Actual Control (LAC).
Also, After a two and a half-hour meeting that went into the night in Moscow, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi said they consented on a five-point course of action to disengage and reduce tensions along the Line of Actual Control (LAC), where Indian and Chinese troops have been engaged in a four and a half month-long stand-off.
After yesterday’s meeting, India and China will have military commanders working out the disengagement. Both sides will physically verify the pullback process, which could start after a Lt General-level meeting.
The meeting could be held early next week to implement the plan discussed in Moscow, sources said.
