The Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) has directed all residents of the national capital, who attended the Kumbh Mela in Uttarakhand’s Haridwar from April 4 to April 17, to go for compulsory home quarantine for 14 days and upload their details in the Delhi government website.
What order says:
In a late night order on Saturday, the authority said those planning to go for Kumbh Mela any time between April 18 and April 30 must also compulsorily upload their basic information so that they can be tracked on arrival.
The authority also said if anyone violates the directive, they will face legal action.
An order issued by Chief Secretary Vijay Dev states, “All those residents of Delhi, who have visited or are going to visit Kumbh, will be required to compulsory home quarantine themselves for 14 days on arrival to Delhi.”
“Residents of Delhi who visited the Kumbh Mela between April 4 and April 17 are required to upload their details on a link provided on the Delhi government website within 24 hours,” he added in an official letter.
“Those who are going to visit Kumbh between April 18 and April 30 must fill in their details before leaving Delhi. This will allow the government to effectively trace all Kumbh Mela visitors,” the letter reads.
Other states for kumbh returnees:
Earlier, Madhya Pradesh government also directed all district collectors to quarantine people returning from Kumbh Mela being held in Uttarakhand’s Haridwar. The state government said that all returnees will have to inform the district collector about their arrival.
Meanwhile, Gujarat government has made RT-PCR test mandatory for the returnees. Devotees returning home to Gujarat from the Kumbh Mela in Haridwar will not be given direct entry to their villages, said Chief Minister Vijay Rupani on Saturday, adding that all returnees will have to undergo an RT-PCR test against COVID-19.
COVID- 19 cases in Haridwar:
Over the last five days, a total of 2167 people were found positive for coronavirus in Haridwar — the place where the month-long Kumbh is going on.
According to the Uttarakhand State Control Room, there were 254 COVID-19 positive cases on April 10, 386 on April 11, 408 on April 12, 594 on April 13 and 525 on April 14.
