Delhi woman head constable Seema Dhaka gets out-of-turn promotion for tracing 76 missing

In a first, a Delhi police officer – Seema Dhaka – has been promoted before time for finding 76 missing children in nearly three months under a new incentive scheme.

“When we join police force, we’re aware of the challenges involved, and we’re aware of the risk to our lives. That doesn’t deter us,” Ms Dhaka told NDTV today as she shared that the acknowledgment of her efforts has greatly motivated her.

The incentive scheme promised out-of-turn promotions for constables and head constables who rescue more than 50 children below the age of 14 within a year. As many as 56 of the children rescued by Dhaka were under the age of 14.

“I am a mother and never want someone to lose their child,” Dhaka told The Indian Express. “We worked round the clock every day on missing reports to rescue children.”

Also, Asadharan Karya Puraskar was announced for any constable or head constable who rescues 15 or more missing children below the age of 14 years — five out of them aged less than eight years — within a period of 12 months, reported PTI.

Dhaka is the first police personnel of the force who has been given the out-of-turn promotion for tracing missing children under the incentive scheme.
