The Indian Army has reportedly occupied heights on the north bank of Pangong Tso which overlook Chinese positions on the ridge lines in the Finger 4 area. This means that the Indian Army now has a tactical advantage on both the north and south banks of the Pangong Tso.
On Monday and Tuesday, the Chinese forces tried to indulge in provocative action especially by coming close to Indian forward locations near Rezang la.
The September 7 “provocative” action by the PLA troops saw them carrying Guandao–traditional Chinese Sword which is basically a blade is mounted on a wooden or metal pole.
This is likely to help India in future negotiations as China is not willing to pull back from the Finger 4 mountain tops earlier. This has resulted in the disengagement process between the two countries coming to a halt.
On the south side of the lake, which has become the new friction point, the Indian Army seems to be in an advantageous position.
In another development, armies of India and China held interactions at Brigade Commander-level and Commanding Officer-level in eastern Ladakh on Thursday which are aimed at keeping the communication lines open between the two sides.
“Armies of India and China today held interactions at Brigade Commander-level and Commanding Officer-level in Eastern Ladakh. Interactions are aimed at keeping the communication lines open between the two sides,” Indian Army sources said.
