PM Modi interacted with the first group of Agniveers via a virtual session. PM Modi spoke with the initial teams of recruits for the short-term induction programme for the armed forces during a special virtual session on Monday.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh also attended the session.
Agnipath Scheme
In accordance with the Agnipath scheme, which was unveiled on June 14 of last year, the three services are hiring young people between the ages of 17 and a half and 21 for a period of four years with the option to keep 25% of them for an additional 15 years.
The maximum age was raised to 23 years for 2022. Although the administration claims the exercise will make the armed forces more youthful and capable of meeting current demands, opposition parties have criticised it.
