Suspected terrorists shot dead an advocate at his residence in Srinagar Babar Qadri also appeared in TV debates and was not liked by separatists.
The area has been cordoned off and a search operation has been launched to nab the assailants
Prominent advocate Babar Qadri, who used to appear in television debates on Indian national channels very frequently, was shot dead by unknown gunmen at his in residence in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir.
Qadri, in his early 40s, was rushed to the SKIMS hospital, where doctors declared him ‘dead on arrival’, according to the official.
“He was shot at and critically injured. He succumbed to injuries while being transported to the hospital,” a senior police officer of the J&K Police said.
Preliminary inputs suggest that unidentified gunmen opened fire at Babar Qadri on Thursday evening.

A vocal critic of the central government, Advocate Babar Qadri had said in another tweet dated September 13 of this year, “Abolition of Art 370 and art 35 A was never done for the interest of Indian people rather it was done to promote capitalists. Soil & sand is being excavated by companies now, which was a source of livelihood to poor Kashmiri. Jahlim and Hokarsar are being dredged out by companies.”
Last night, Bhupinder Singh, a member of the block development council in Khag area of Budgam district, was shot dead by militants at his ancestral village Dalwash.
