NZ VS PAK ICC ODI World Cup 2023: Kane Williamson has just returned after a thumb injury but it looks like he has not missed a beat. He was masterful in batting and showed everyone what the Kiwis were missing.
There was no rust in his batting as he was playing every shot so effortlessly. But it looks like even his fielding is rust free as he was the sharpest on the field. This just shows how brilliant of a player he is and that class can never be forgotten.
After scoring blistering 95 runs and missing a century by just a margin, Williamson was back to his best during the fielding as well. Amidst all the chaos, the Kiwis needed something to break the opening partnership. That is when Kane decided to take a leap of faith and break the partnership.
Flying Kane Willliamson
Abdullah Shafique and Fakhar Zaman came to bat for Pakistan as they were chasing a target of 402 runs. Everyone knew that the openers will be aggressive right from the start. That is why New Zealand needed an early wicket to completely assert their dominance.
That is when Kane Williamson decided to intervene. Keep in mind that Williamson was out for 21 days because of a thumb injury and was out of few months before that because of a leg injury. People that just came from injuries are not supposed to fly like that.
On the last delivery of the second over, Abdullah Shafique played a lofted shot over mid-off. Kane ran back on his hobbling knee, extends himself to put in a diving as he’s running backwards with the ball coming over his shoulder, and then lets the ball nestle into his hands.
Intense Chase Ahead
Even after losing the first wicket early, Pakistan chase has not halted down. Fakhar Zaman is playing a heroic inning and has been ruthless against New Zealand bowlers. Pakistan skipper Babar Azam is playing steadily alongside him.
If the Kiwis can’t get Zaman out, he might pull the match back for Pakistan from an unwinnable position. We are in for a great match and this NZ VS PAK ICC ODI World Cup 2023 match can be one of the best.
