Himachal Pradesh News: In the midst of torrential rains in Himachal Pradesh‘s Kullu district, a video has appeared online showing a car being washed away by an overflowing river. In the footage, a parked car is seen getting swept away in the Beas river, which has overflowed due to the area’s constant rain.

In the footage, onlookers can be heard saying “Hum Chalein (we go)” as they videotape the incident on their smartphones. According to police, today’s train service on the Shimla-Kalka historic rail track has been cancelled due to the persistently high rainfall, resulting slides, and waterlogging. Seven districts in Himachal Pradesh have received a “red” signal from the meteorological service, which indicates that Sunday is likely to see more exceptionally heavy rain. The Shrikhand Mahadev Yatra has been postponed until July 11 by the Kullu district administration, who has also requested the pilgrims not to walk through the rain. The yatra began on Friday, July 7, and it will end on July 20. The 35-kilometer walk begins at Nirmand at Jahu.
Himachal Pradesh’s Bahang, Manali Faces Infrastructure Damage

Commuters Left Helpless as Flash Floods Destroy Road
About five kilometres from Gramphu in the Lahaul subdivision of Lahaul and Spiti, commuters were left stranded since the road had been destroyed by flash floods. Following landslip and rockfall accidents on the Kandaghat-Parwanoo stretch of the Shimla-Kalka national highway (NH-5), several sections of the highway had one-way traffic. According to a statement from the Met office, isolated locations in the Chamba, Kangra, Kullu, Mandi, Una, Hamirpur, and Bilaspur districts are likely to experience intense spells of extremely heavy rainfall on Sunday as well due to an active Western Disturbance. Additionally, it has issued warnings about the potential for water system disruptions in the low and mid hills, as well as the danger of flash floods along water bodies in the districts of Kangra, Chamba, Shimla, Mandi, Kullu, Sirmaur, Solan, and Una. It was reported that a number of rivers were flowing above the danger level. For automobile traffic, 133 routes in the hill state are closed.
