Ras Al Khaimah: Ras Al Khaimah, already the holder of multiple world records for its famed fireworks exhibitions, welcomed 2023 with a captivating pyro-musical show, shattering two Guinness World Records titles.
The 12-minute spectacle lit up the sky with a jaw-dropping pyrotechnic performance and larger-than-life fireworks display, securing the title of “largest number of operated multi-rotors/drones with a simultaneous fireworks display” with a record-breaking 671 operated drones, and setting a brand-new world record for the “largest aerial sentence formed by multirotors/drones” created with 673 drones.

The display, which drew spectators from all around the world, featured cutting-edge drones, nano lights, colours, and shapes all coordinated to electrifying beats. It flew over 4.7 kilometres and reached a height of 1,100 metres, breaking the previous record of 458 drones. The drones then smoothly changed into the emirate’s unique ‘RAKashida’ emblem to relate back to the location, culminating in a “Happy New Year 2023” message to signal new beginnings.
Taking inspiration from the concept of “kashida” in Arabic calligraphy – a line that connects letters to form a word – the logo represents the emirate’s three distinct natural elements: the sea with its constant swelling and subsiding, the desert with its undulating dunes, and the mountains with their staggering elevations.
