Russia: President Vladimir Putin was seen driving a Mercedes across the Crimean Bridge, which connects Russia to the occupied Crimean peninsula, months after an explosion destroyed it.
The 19-kilometer road and train bridge, which Vladimir Putin personally unveiled in 2018, was blasted on October 8 in an attack Russia blamed on Ukraine. Ukraine, on the other hand, never claimed responsibility for the bombing.

Putin was accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin
Putin, accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin, was seen on official television driving a Mercedes and enquiring about the location of the attack.
Vladimir Putin said in an exchange that was broadcast by Russian television, “The left side of the bridge, as I understand it, is in working condition, but nevertheless it needs to be completed. It still suffered a little, we need to bring it to an ideal state.”
Vladimir Putin also walked over sections of Europe’s largest bridge to assess sections that were still visibly charred.
The explosion destroyed one piece of the road bridge, causing traffic across the Kerch Strait to be temporarily halted. The explosion also wrecked six fuel tankers on a train travelling from neighbouring southern Russia to the seized Crimean Peninsula. Putin replied with air strikes on civilian areas and Ukraine’s power grid, escalating the conflict.
