Kabali takes center stage
Named after a popular Indian film character, the wild elephant named Kabali made headlines as it caused an unexpected roadblock in the vicinity. This incident took place on the Chalakudy-Malakkappara route, a path known not only for its scenic beauty but also for the frequent appearances of wild elephants near the road and villages.
A remarkable video that has since gone viral portrays a unique interaction between humans and the wild. As Kabali ambled across the road, a bus carrying passengers found its path obstructed. The video showcases a bus driver who remained remarkably composed in the face of an unexpected delay caused by Kabali’s presence. With a calm and reassuring voice, the driver kept his passengers at ease while communicating directly with the elephant. He addressed Kabali by name, asking the majestic creature to make way.
What sets this encounter apart is the familiarity the bus driver had with Kabali. According to reports, this was not the first time Kabali had graced the Chalakudy-Malakkappara route with its presence. In fact, the driver had encountered the elephant on over 80 occasions, establishing a friendly acquaintance with the wild giant.

The video which was shared on YouTube has over 68k views. One user commented, “The driver seems to know the elephant since he has been driving through this route. He is calm and tells the people to remain calm. Awesome.” Another user commented, “Elephants have excellent memories, which makes them recognise this man’s voice and that he’s not a threat.
