Viral Photo: Social media is a platform where anything can go viral. Recently a family picture is grabbing people’s attention. Actually this picture is of a funeral where all the relatives have gathered for the ceremony. A happy and smiling picture of relatives in a funeral ceremony is going viral on the internet which has created a choas in social media. Some people are criticising the photo and calling these relatives ‘insensitive humans’, while few people are even defending them.
Old lady funeral
For uninitiated, this picture is from the funeral of a 95-year-old Mariyamma. She was sick and even bed-ridden for over long period of time. The old lady had 9 children and 19 grandchildren, and was everyones favourite. The family had come to visit her and were present at her funeral where they decided to take the picture.
Family member responded
The picture was for their private momento, but it somehow got viral on internet. The family since then has been receiving a lot of comments on the picture. Even an interview with Mathrubhumi who is a family member of this old lady addressed the controversy around the picture and said, “The people who cannot acknowledge the picture are those who have seen only tears after death. Instead of lamenting, the dead have to be bid adieu merrily. We have done the same,” they said.
