Anand Mahindra’s Interest in Innovative Mosquito Solution
Anand Mahindra Wrote in Caption that, ” With dengue on the rise in Mumbai, I’m trying to figure out how to acquire this miniature cannon, invented by a Chinese man, which can seek out & destroy mosquitoes! An Iron Dome for your Home…”
It is a miniature cannon that guarantees precision against mosquitoes, with no details about the origin of the machine. There is a notebook with many pages showing dead mosquitoes on the pages as proof of the effectiveness of the machine. Mahindra was interested in buying this device because he wanted to help deal with the increasing problem of mosquitoes and prevent dengue.
Dengue Crisis in Maharashtra
Innovations like these are much needed given the present scenario in Maharashtra, with cities like Mumbai, Nashik, and Kolhapur reeling under the dengue outbreak. As on August 7, Maharashtra has a total 6,751 dengue and 8,730 malaria cases. Of these dengue cases, about 40 percent have been recorded in the above-mentioned cities. Similarly, Gadchiroli, Mumbai, and Raigad account for about 80 percent of malaria cases in the state.
Mahindra’s post reflects growing concern over mosquito-borne diseases, with this really bad monsoon season increasing the propagation of such illnesses. By drawing attention to this advanced mosquito-destroying machine, he draws attention to how new innovations are required to fight the health risks associated with the rising mosquito population.

Repellents: Apply to skin and clothing: DEET or picaridin.
Protective clothing: Wear long-sleeved shirts, long pants, socks
Screening: Fix window and door screens to keep mosquitoes out
Community Effort: Engage in cleanup activities for mosquito breeding areas.
